‘P90 FN Herstal Close Support Weapon System (PIWS) ’
FN P90
This is just a sharesite for P90 fans. After seeing it on Stargate:SG1, and Stargate:Atlantis, I liked the aesthetics and digging around on the internet, realised that it's an actual weapon, the FN Herstal P90, classified as an SMG (sub-machine gun). I created a model for the popular Battlefield 1942 game, in my own mod, and became very interested in its unique design. Since then, I've scoured around for information on it, and have decided to put it all in one place - a P90 repository.

‘This is the definitive FN HERSTAL P90 and Five-SeveN 5.7x28mm info site’ - me, today (wishful thinking).

 ‘P90: close-up and personal’
FN P90 - promo imagery You may have seen the P90 on Stargate, or Gunslinger Girl. You may have used it in CounterStrike. Now you want to see more of it. CLOSEUP. How does the magazine load? Where's the safety? What type of rounds can it use? How does it field strip? Can I see an exploded diagram? We have airsoft manuals for the TM P90RD and P90TR, closeups of the P90 field stripped, details of the 5.7x28 mm ammunition system, and specifications of the FN HERSTAL P90 itself.
Check out the P90 resources on the P90 here.

‘P90 for airsoft, or just as a replica’
FN P90 - airsoft skirmishing If you dont work in law enforcement, or the film and television industry, the closest you are likely to get to an FN P90 is the growing sport, Airsoft. A combat-simulation /skirmish sport for adults, airsoft uses gas or spring powered-weapons to fire, pushing a small .20g 'bb' pellet. These bb pellets are accurate in close-quarter battle situations (CQB) up to 20-30m, or up to 50m for field skirmishes, such as from sniper rifles (Note, an upgraded airsoft rifle, using a slightly heavier pellet, such as .28g or .35g can accurately hit a mansize target at 100m). The small pellet is light enough to allow airsoft weapons to fall under the 'Toy' category by UK law, rather than 'Firearms', but protection must still be worn. The Tokyo Marui P90 RD (red dot) is capable of firing 500 bb pellets per minute at full-auto, and is a popular choice for CQB due to its compact size and manueverability.

Note: Airsoft started in the East (Japan, Hong Kong) where the trend was to use accurate replicas of 'real-steel' weapons, such as the M16, MP5, etc for realism. Under supportive legislation in the west to avoid confusion with real firearms, Airsoft has flourished and established itself as a reputable sport, or activity. These airsoft weapons (rifles, pistol, machine guns etc) are almost identical in look, feel and weight to the actual weapon, but they are heavily adapted internally to work with batteries or gas, and fire bb pellets. They cannot be made or modified to fire real ammunition, any more than a plumbing pipe could. UK legislation prevents airsoft weapons exceeding safe parameters, and is strictly enforced by the industry.
If you'd like to know more, contact an airsoft supplier such as Airsoft Armoury, Wolf Armouries or check out airsoft community forums such as ukasc.net.

The best known airsoft FN P90 replica is made by Tokyo Marui, who make two variants, the P90 Red Dot (P90RD) and the P90 Triple Rail (P90TR) with silencer, the difference being the top part (receiver). A P90TR is also made by other manufacturers, such as Well (D90F) and NeonFire, but are underpowered, and tend to be less accurate replicas. However, they are also substantially cheaper. Tokyo Marui P90s can be modified as much as the original FN P90, with different load-outs and configurations, by after-market accessories, such as steel or metal upgrades and replacement parts, sights, lasers, silencers, slings etc.

 ‘FN P90 toys / models / collectibles’
If you're a P90 fan, you might want to collect the rare (discontinued?) Verlinden 1/4 scale FN P90 model (from Verlinden's Modern Firearms collection), or the 1/6 scale FN P90 Dragon weapons, designed for use with 1/6 scale action figures, such as Action Man, G.I. Joe, Dragon figurines etc. Again, these are rare (discontinued?), but not too hard to source (I have half a dozen!) The Dragon FN P90's come as red-dot variant, with detachable side flashlight and silencer. There is also a Dragon version with a fixed silencer and spare 50rd magazine. There is also an F2000 variant (very rare - if someone sees this, please let me know, as I'm still not convinced it's actually a P90 or just shares the housing).

‘P90 media and P90 in the media’
FN P90 - why is Sam pointing an unloaded weapon? So, who uses the P90 in the media? Well, despite its limited circulation of blank ammunition, the P90 is sought after by film-makers because of its unique and futuristic design. Stargate:SG1, Stargate:Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Prodigal Son, Gunslinger Girl and films such as Equilibrium and Ecks vs Sever. Is it in danger of over-use? Unlikely. Most people on the street still don't even recognise it.
In this section, you'll find clips of the P90 on the range, FN Herstal's P90 promotional video, and clips and stills from tv shows and films with the P90.
